Lady assaulted by Osun State police during lockdown rewarded N5m damages

The Nigerian lady who was assaulted by Ogun state police during the lockdown in 2020 has been awarded N5m for damages.

Recall that the lady went viral after a video of her being flogged and beaten up by Ogun state police trended on social media.

Her lawyers Abiodun Sonaike, Pelumi Olajengbesi and Ifeoluwa Wole-Olaleye revealed this in a Twitter post yesterday, February 1.

“Remember this woman? Went viral for being lashed by @PoliceNG officers during the lockdown at Iwo. By God’s grace, we were able to get justice for her today. 5m awarded as damages. Great to work with Pelumi Olajengbesi and @datsportslawyer on this. #EndPoliceBrutality #EndSARS” the tweet read.

When asked by if the police will pay for the N5m awarded, Sonaike assured Nigerians that the money will be paid by the police because it’s not “audio money”.

“Good afternoon people of God, please Congratulate @fabhally for her victory. As per those asking whether they will pay, I can assure you this is not audio money” He added.
